Halloween Is Coming

Halloween is coming and has become one of my favorite holidays to celebrate. I do miss treat-or-treating and going out into the night to amass a huge candy fortune but I love handing out candy just as much. I love the autumn wind blowing on my face and spending every moment while the sun is out preparing for the neighborhood treat-or-treaters. Last year we made the mistake of giving handfuls of candy out only to run out about two hours after dark. This year, we'll be a little bit more frugal so we can stretch our candy-giving duties out longer.

In the past, shorter days used to make me sad but I've learned to make sure I see the sun every day. I am looking forward to spending the upcoming holiday months in a quiet manner. Last year, I couldn't wait for 2013 to be over but I've found myself indifferent about 2014 coming to a close. I am just eager to spend time with family.

I cannot wait to have days off in November/December and be able to have quiet of mind, write in my journal, finish my album, catch up on things around the house and most of all, spend time with he who makes my world go 'round.

But before then, it's pumpkin carving time!!!

These Past Few Months...

Have been busy! Brian and I celebrated our third anniversary, I slipped into my wedding dress to do my annual funny, anniversary photo, performed in two shows backup vocals for the lovely artist Poe, went to a beautiful wedding, managed to squeeze in some Disneyland time and now have a September/October 2014 date for my album. I haven't been blogging much but my creative projects have been blooming. I'm also back in Spinning (Indoor Cycling) class five times a week which is kicking my my butt. Until next time...

San Jose

A couple of weeks ago we met my brother in San Jose, CA to attend the film festival Cinequest. He was the cinematographer on a film called Victoriana. I don't want to give too much away about the film but you can click the link to find out more. It was awesome to be there to support him. He is truly a gifted individual. Another awesome part of this trip was getting away with Brian. We have been so busy with work lately and it's rare that our schedules allow us to spend the weekend together.

Advice for busy couples out there (especially if you have different work schedules like Brian and I do) - if you both can get just one day off to spend together, DO IT! It's better to have that one then none at all!

A New Year

My birthday is next week (February 14) and although I'm not particularly religious, I think there is something special about it being my "Jesus Year". 33 on 2/14/14 - Isn't there a ring to that? I think there's magic in those numbers.

Celebrating another year of life is a must. It has nothing to do with presents but everything to deal with the appreciation of time. Time is a certainty that we as humans will never win against. We can never beat time, slow it down, speed it up, freeze it - we are all at it's mercy. Of course, I miss being a little kid and sometimes feel nostalgic but growing older and wiser makes time an ally and not an enemy.

I've found that time appears to slow down when I'm laughing with my family and friends. In these moments, I could care less about what happened before or what will happen. All I yearn for is to soak up as much of the "present" as I can.
